Blog updated for you awesome readers
I initially wanted to put a photo related to the title but i couldn't find any nice photos. Hence, i placed a photo of a special item, that will be sold at www.shopsmoothies.com. I'm not saying the rest are not special [ahems, of course OMS clothes are special to me] but this little thing right here is more special! I don't think i need to explain much, it's all written in the photo above :)
Back to what the title is saying, and also to continue from another "Blogshop Post" below.
There are tons and tons of blogshops around! It seems like an endless sea of blogshops. Doesn't make mine any different though. But i read an article somewhere and found it really relate-able and can be of good help to you cos i found it of help to me too! Heh. It's very wordy at their web, so i just picked out the main point and add in a few words too. I'm going to explain maybe 3 points today and the rest on other days. So, here it goes (sorry for it being wordy, i tried to add pictures too):
1) " Expect to have to wait for sales to happen - do not overspend on
publicity in the hope that things will be hyped up enough to cover
initial costs. Doesn't happen this way most times. Leave enough reserves
for the low seasons. "
I kinda think this is true. I think most blogshop will turn to bloggers to do an advert for them. It is essential, but only when you have the extra money to spare and have thought over it thoroughly. I'm not saying it's a must or a need to do an advertorial, but it depends how much publicity you want. So far, for the past 2 or 3 years, OMS/Spree Smoothies has never went gotten a chance to do a proper advertorial before but it doesn't mean I won't get one. Sometimes it's needed when you need the extra "ummmmph" to your blogshop and we will be getting a few bloggers to do an advert soon too! But if you don't have enough, keep your spare cash and do a better launch perhaps? Do your own advert, create promotions maybe? Won't cost you money anyways!
But, if you're looking for bloggers, i can suggest a few. I have never tried an advert before, but here's a few to list; QiuQiu Qweekly(a fashion online magazine), Pxdkitty, you can also try Yvonne Chua or Shauna Lim! These are the few bloggers that i do have intentions to work with, but never got the time. Will put up a link to their blog soon :)
2) "Expect to meet evil providers - be extremely careful when selecting suppliers and service providers. Expect
to have people talk bad about you - do not attempt to please everyone,
just do what you think is best and never allow your emotions to overtake
your objective mind in making business decisions."
NO ONE ELSE CAN MAKE YOU HAPPY BUT YOU! Also be-careful with the things you do or engage. Not everyone has the best of intentions. Especially when it comes to suppliers. Though i can't advice much, just trial and error. I got "cheated" once by my supplier. Don't worry, this supplier is not local. Still in the recovery stage now. Gave me a few months of setback. Urgh! The next, don't mix emotions with business, at least not the bad ones of course. :)
3) "Expect to be tired and overwhelmed. You need to buy stocks, get products
packaging, start an inventory list, take pictures of your products,
write products descriptions, get the website started, upload your
products information, do online and offline publicity - all these work
can take up a whole lot out of you! Sales happen later."
I need not say more! There's so much things to do! But don't give up just yet. You need to work hard to get your blogshop/business anywhere. Plus it ain't going to get any easier from now on anyway so might as well get used to it. BUT, if you do get bigger and better in the future, you can hire someone to lighten the load :)
